The Ultimate in Leadership
and Dance Training
June 11-14, 2010
Hilton Houston North Hotel
Now offering a junior high and middle school program during officer camp! |
M.A. Dance conducts the largest and most comprehensive dance Leadership Camp in the nation. Each summer, well over 100 officer groups from across the U.S. attend our camps held in Houston, TX. Our program for dance officers concentrates on completing leadership projects, developing choreography skills, teaching and polishing technical movements and routines, and implementing new motivational ideas for encouraging team members to "develop communication skills with their team members, director, parents, and other administrators".
Our social officer program focuses on outlining duties and responsibilities, teaching arts and crafts, planning spirit workshops, organizing team parties and other special events, implementing new motivational ideas and learning new routines.
New Junior High / Middle School Program:
For the second year MA Dance has implemented an officer camp program specifically designed for Junior High / Middle School dancers. The curriculum will include many of the same activities listed for the High School Dance and Social officer programs, but will target the age level and maturity of younger students to maximize their potential as officers and leaders. Dance routines taught will also reflect the levels of junior high/middle school officers. |

OFFICER AWARDS
Home Routine: Optional Evaluation the second evening of camp. Beautiful Home Routine Plaques will be presented to the most outstanding routines based upon choreography, variety, difficulty, technique, showmanship and general effect. The results of Home Routine do not count towards an officer line's overall performance rating given on the final day of camp.
Routine Evaluations: Each officer line will be evaluated on one of our camp routines taught the first day and then may select another routine learned during the week to perform for final evaluation. In addition, each group of officers will be evaluated on a choreography project and a written leadership profile.
Circle of Gold ..Silver..Bronze: Trophies will be given to officer lines on the final day based upon the composite score from their routine evaluations, original choreography project, written leadership profile, and workshop performance. Most Disciplined Awards will be given to the officer lines, which demonstrate the best attitude, behavior and willingness to learn in class each day. No solo competition or individual honors are given, as we want to emphasize group unity & performance.
